About the Artist

Hi! I’m Amanda!

I’m a ceramic artist based in Lansing, Michigan, creating functional pottery designed to bring a sense of joy to everyday routines. I began working with clay during my sophomore year at Adrian College and quickly fell in love with the process, earning my BFA in Ceramics. I create most of my work in my home studio, and I am also a member of Clayworks Pottery Studio, a co-op pottery studio in Lansing, that provides access to tools I may not have at home as well as a supportive community of fellow ceramic artists.

Working primarily on the pottery wheel, I use a brown speckled clay body and food-safe glazes to create well-balanced, durable pieces that are comfortable to hold and made for daily use. My work often combines bright, playful colors with areas of exposed clay and varied surface textures, using a mix of handmade and pre-mixed glazes. Through contrast, texture, and color, I aim to balance visual interest with simplicity and function.

Since 2022, I’ve been participating in craft shows, sharing my work directly with the community and connecting with people who value handmade objects. I believe functional ceramics should be both useful and uplifting, and I aim to create pieces that become part of your daily rituals and bring a little extra joy to the everyday.
